Chapter 1 The Idols of Faith
1st John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. 21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
If we are in Christ, we are in the will of God. But what is in us, the love of the world? lusts? passions? wants? desires? We take with us into Christ, all of the corruptions of the flesh? all the loves of the world? all the desires of this life? and believe that we can name, claim, and grab anything from heaven we so desire? There is a deadly aroma in the earth, a dying carcass of a harlot church that stinks to the highest heaven, having a name, a great name that she is alive and well, yet is dead! What a great chasm of sorrow is appointed to those who understand not the truth. By faith do we receive all things? By faith we receive nothing. Why? Because our faith is not our faith at all in the first place, but is a gift of GOD. We are all given a measure of faith from the heavens to believe. Our faith is not a throne from earth cast upward to order heaven around to our bidding, and our asking, and our requiring, and our requesting, and our demanding. Nor is heaven on an auction block that is sold as in a market place for tithes and offerings, the greatest gain going to the highest bidders.
It is written. 1st John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
Now, hear this again, and again and burn it upon your mind. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us. He hears us, only and if we ask anything and everything according to his will. Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane, prayed, and His praying and agony was out of His Father’s will, in that He prayed that the bitter cup pass from Him, yet He prayed in His Father’s will also, saying, Not my will, Father, but thy will be done. His petition was not granted, and who is to accuse Christ of having no faith? Not I! We, being in Christ, are in the will of the Father. Yet, being in Christ and in the will of the Father in Christ, does not set His will in us. His will must be set in us. Jesus, being in the will of the Father was heard, yet the will of the Father then and therefore had to be set in Christ. Jesus Himself had to set His Father’s will in Himself. He had to take it within Himself, and abandon His own will and petition to take within Himself His Father’s will.
There are many idols of faith erected in the churches. Tithe and get, a great stumblingblock of Balaam cast before the children of the LORD, the love of money. Tithe and get and tithe and gain, an idol, a god of mammon. And the god of mammon has many fingers and many toes. It has lands, and houses, and baubles and trinkets, and mothers and fathers, and husbands and wives, and children, and just name it, and just claim it, and just grab it. You do not have it because you have not named it, they say. You do not have it because you did not believe for it, they say. When you tithed, you did not tithe with faith, and therefore, you did not receive it, they say. You must sow seed, they say, to get healed, and delivered, and blessed. If you do not sow, you shall not reap, they say. Yet the scriptures say, God gives rain to the unjust and the just, and bread to the holy and the wicked. From what devil, therefore, do these doctrines come from? For a sinner has more honour with the Almighty than those that dare to touch the mount, that dare to defile the Word of God and call it the truth that saves from damnation. These deny the LORD that bought their salvations with His own holy blood. As He said, the harlots and drunkards shall enter into the Kingdom of God when it appears, and the lovers of this world, this life, this flesh, and this god of mammon, shall be cast out. Those of the world speak of the world, preaching another gospel.
A thief that steals will say, I am no thief. My children were hungry. I had no money. They were crying. I stole because I had to, but I am no thief. So every time he has a problem with money, he steals, but he claims, I am not a thief. And those that bow down to the god of mammon and say, the end justifies the means, are corrupted in the inside. These sins of the flesh are washed away in a split second of time, but spiritual sins, where is there a washing? These are thieves and robbers in the name of the LORD, stealing widows’ houses, and a man’s wages, and bread from the children of God, saying, it is the gospel of Christ. It is the doctrine of Christ. Jesus said, Make not my Father’s house a house of merchandise!
Now a prostitute that walks the streets also claims, I am no whore. I need money. It is just a way to get money, but I am no whore. With me it is all business, but I am no whore. And the church serves another god and another doctrine and another gospel and says I am clean? She is a spiritual whore, laying down herself to another lord, the god of mammon. With her it is all business, but she is no whore, she claims. It is all for the saving of souls.
Now, will the thief, if confronted in his stealing, then kill someone in the process of a robbery to get bread and money for bills, and then become a murderer also and claim, I am not a murderer, nor am I a thief, but my children were hungry? Here this man steals, and then murders and all the time says, It was for a good cause! The god of mammon is a thief, is a robber, and is a murderer and a liar as was from the beginning.
And the prostitute who claims she is not a gutter rat, one day is being roughed up by one of her customers, and she picks up a knife and kills him, and still declares, I am no whore. I am no murderer for I killed in self defense. I am innocent. I was afraid for my life. The god of mammon is a thief, is a whore, is a harlot, is a whoremonger, is a murderer and a liar as was from the beginning. It matters nothing if the god of mammon abides in the church, in the saved, or in the lost, it will still cheat, lie, steal and murder, and lay with any and all it chooses. It will damn all and save none! It is in the business of the buying and selling of souls. It is marketing, souls!
What a horrible leaven of hypocrisy. It does not take blame for sin and it takes the credit for everything good and even if it has to confess bad to get credit, it will. It is always making itself look good, and not be so bad, but all the while is a liar, for it will not undo, nor redo, nor return to the scene of the crime, so to speak, and restore and reconcile and undo and redo and tear out the old tree of iniquity and ax it at the root, and then again build it up and replant it and do any kind of a work of repentance.
If we are truly sorry for our sins, we will be restored and will restore, and we will undo, redo, and are not the same, neither do we repeat the same offense, seeing as repentance changes and converts and cleanses. If one will not restore, neither is he changed. If one says, I am sorry, please forgive me, and remains unchanged, he is a liar and there is no truth in him. For the commandment is, If he repents, forgive him. Repentance works change. Repentance always says, Not my will, Father, but thy will be done.
We come to the LORD and bow before the LORD, cleansed from the world, first. We come to the LORD cleansed from the spirit of satan, first. We come to the LORD, first cleansed, and then He receives us, giving us the power and the Spirit to become sons and daughters of His Father, setting us free from sin, the world, the flesh, and all hypocrisy, first, and then His Father shall receive us. But those that resist truth and deny truth altogether and call it a lie, saying, I am innocent, and I have no sin, are yet in the bondages of iniquity.
First came the baptism for the forgiveness of sin. First came repentance. First came being born again from the flesh into the Spirit of forgiving grace, and this birth came through the law. For John the Baptist came through and from the law. Repent and be baptized for the remission of sin, or the forgiveness of sin, came before Christ, to prepare one to receive then, Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ came into the world to bring to light immortality. He came into the world to give immortality once again unto Israel, that immortality that was created in the garden in Adam and Eve that was lost in the fall of man.
2nd Tim. 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus. . .. . . . . . . . . . .7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
When Christ was crucified, that immortality was ripped from this world with a violence. It is that immortality that we are waiting and watching and praying for to come into the world again in flesh and blood, that we might touch the immortal God and be made whole in body, soul and spirit.
So in coming to Christ, to receive life and immortality, those purified in all but one thing, Jesus said, Go and be purified yet of this one thing, and then come and follow Me. We must first be purified. We must first walk in the purification spirit of repentance and every day do what is necessary to undo sin, and restore ourselves, keeping ourselves in the preparation of salvation, the receiving of immortality, that we die not. For there is a generation that shall die not, and shall be translated from mortality to immortality.
